Performance and Maintenance

Factors Affecting Graphic Performance:

  • Proper substrate preparation and cleaning.
  • Environmental conditions, such as exposure to UV light and weathering.
  • Application on undamaged OEM paint for optimal results.

Cleaning Instructions:

  • Avoid abrasive or solvent-based cleaning products.
  • Structured and matte finishes may require more frequent cleaning.
  • Use Hexis-recommended cleaners for optimal maintenance (e.g., Laser Wash for mirror finishes).

Removal: Films can be removed with heat or chemicals, but structured finishes may require extra care due to their fragility.

Important Installation Notes

  • Surface Compatibility: Films should only be applied to clean, undamaged OEM paint.
  • Heat and Stretching: Use heat carefully to avoid overstretching or tearing the film. Maintain deformation within recommended limits, especially for chrome and metallic finishes.
  • Handling Fragile Films:
    • Avoid folding films with liners still attached.
    • Store and transport films carefully to prevent irreversible marks.
  • Cleaning After Installation: Wait 24 hours post-application before cleaning to ensure adhesive sets properly.

  • Exceptional Variety: Available in unique finishes including carbon fiber, alligator, leather, sequin, brushed aluminum, super glitter, pearly iridescent, and more.

  • Structured adhesive for faster installation and air egress.

  • Solvent-based acrylic adhesive for immediate and permanent adhesion, optimized after 24 hours.

  • Durable Construction: Thickness ranges from 70 µm to 280 µm, depending on the finish.

  • High Conformability: Designed for highly deformed surfaces and complex curves. Specific finishes, such as silver and gold carbon, are best suited for flat or slightly curved surfaces.

  • Temperature Resistance: Operating range from -40°F to +194°F (-40°C to +90°C).

  • Durability: Vertical exposure durability ranges from 6 months to 5 years, depending on finish and environmental factors.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will Vinyl Wrap protect my car from scratches?

Yes, it can protect your paint from light abrasions such as tree branches and some stone chips.

If you are looking to protect your car then you may be looking for paint protective film (PPF) this is a different product to vinyl wrap.

How long does vinyl wrap last for?

Much like paint, if you leave your car out in the sun all day every day, the vinyl wrap can deteriorate within the first year after installation. If you look after the film by avoiding long UV exposure and maintaining it then you can get up to 8 years out of it.

Will vinyl wrap damage my paint?

No, genuine branded vinyl wrap in most cases will protect your paint from general wear and tear.

How will I know when the vinyl wrap has to be removed?

You will notice the film becomes quite faded and in some cases may begin to crack or flake. It is highly recommended to remove the film before the deterioration continues otherwise the removal process will become more tedious and time consuming.

How do I maintain my vinyl wrap?

It is recommended to keep the film washed and clean while only using PH neutral car wash products and avoid rough physical washing processes such as an automatic car wash.

What is PPF?

PPF stands for Paint Protection Film. It is a clear, durable, and flexible polyurethane film designed to protect a vehicle's paint from damage. It serves as a protective layer against scratches, rock chips, road debris, insect stains, and environmental contaminants like UV rays and acid rain.

PPF is specifically designed to protect paint from hard abrasions.
